Browser hijacking.

Your browser freezes and pop-ups warning you to call a fake Microsoft number
It also has a wonderful alarm that blares

This cheap theater is a scam. Only your browser is infected.
I am writing this to prevent any undue stress on your end.

  • One has to clean your browser and cache.
  • I would also remove any extensions in your browser you do not know.
  • Scan your computer with an anti-malware product like Trend Micro for HUC owned laptops or a free product like FortiClient.
  • Reboot and reset your browser and you should be fine.

Firefox browser hijacking

Reset Firefox to factory defaults, which will get rid of any search engine or home page preferences. It’ll also turn off all extensions so you can start fresh. Bookmarks and saved passwords will stay intact. Here’s how it’s done:
  1. Click the hamburger menu button
  2. Select the question-mark icon at the bottom of the drop-down menu.
  3. Select ‘Troubleshooting information’ in the slide-out menu.
  4. Select the ‘Reset Firefox‘ button at the top right of the new Web page.
If you don’t want to go through with a reset, you may be able to remove the malicious toolbar by itself. Here’s how to do it:
  1. Click the menu button and choose Add-ons. The Add-ons Manager tab will open.
  2. In the Add-ons Manager tab, select the Extensions panel.
  3. Select the toolbar you wish to remove.
  4. Click the Remove button.
  5. Click Restart now if it pops up. Your tabs will be saved and restored after the restart.

Let's work on trying to protect you from these attacks.
